Reception To Honor Karl Konrad

Reception To Honor Karl Konrad

A reception will be held this Saturday, April 14, in honor of Karl Konrad and his many years of service at Southwestern Adventist University.  The reception will take place at the Hopps Museum. It begins at 4:30 p.m. and will go until 6 p.m.

Konrad worked at Southwestern for 45 years.  He worked as a chemistry teacher and department chair from December 1968 to June 2006.  He was also the Vice President of Academic Administration starting in July 2006 until he returned as a chemistry professor in 2009.  Konrad retired in the summer of 2011.

Bob Mendenhall, professor of communication, says, “Every student I’ve ever talked to over the years has said that they’ve loved Karl Konrad’s classes and that he was an excellent chemistry teacher.  After all, you don’t stay a teacher for that many years if you’re not doing something right.”

The reception will be an open house that all are invited to enjoy.

I throughly enjoyed Professor Konrad's chemistry classes. When I transfered to The College of New Jersey due to my husband's military service since we lived on Fort Dix, NJ, the head of the Chemistry department knew Professor Konrad and immediately accepted my chemistry CLEP credits without hesitation: which is unheard of. TCNJ does Not accept CLEP. I was thrilled to learn Dr Konrad was this well known and in a public state college to boot on the East Coast.

I am so sorry to hear that Dr. Konrad is no longer with SWAU, but I am also happy that he has some time for himself now (maybe to go fishing). I have had the privilege of being in his class a couple years ago. unfortunately I had to drop his class due to illness, i am planning on being admitted back to SWAU and I was looking forward to being in his class again, Dr Konrad I wish you all the best and a happy retirement. You are the best you always made the class fun,You are indeed an excellent Professor. God bless. I am Paulette Francis.

Congrats Dr Konrad. I never took your classes, but you have always been a great friend. I did enjoy the classes I got to take at SWAU very much. I did have chemistry at Blue Mt Academy, and it was fun.
