Weekend Spiritual Activities Tied to Music Festival

Spiritual weekend events include vespers, afterglow, Sabbath school, Music Festival Church, and a Sabbath vespers concert.

Friday night worship will feature music majors in concert. It will be held in the Keene SDA Church and begins at 7. Afterglow will follow at the Mizpah Gate with refreshments and fellowship.

Saturday morning, Lifehouse Sabbath School will be in the Student Center at 10 a.m. and a breakfast snack will be served. The lesson will be led by CTA (Chisholm Trail Academy) and Pastor Geraldo Alonso.

Music Festival Church will be held in the Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium starting at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be John Peckham and his message is titled: Good Enough? This service will also feature all Music Festival participants.

Closing out the Sabbath will be a vespers concert presented by Southwestern’s music department faculty in the Keene SDA Church Sanctuary at 7 p.m.

On Sunday night, the music festival program A Night at the Meyerson, will be presented by Southwestern Adventist University starting at 7:30 at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. Doors open at 7.

Southwestern is honored every year to host an exclusive Music Festival for high school and academy musicians. The festival features three festival ensembles: a 400-voice choir, a 90-piece symphonic band, and a full symphony orchestra. In addition to the festival ensembles, elite musicians may audition for a Music Festival Scholarship. Students that audition have the chance of being selected as a Scholarship Finalist.
