University Experience To Welcome Visitors

Suzanne Phillips, associate professor of biology, introduces a prospective student to a snake from the biology department.
Academy students interested in knowing what it’s like to be a Southwestern student get their chance each year during three events called University Days, the first one this year scheduled for Oct. 18 to 20. University Experience, an event directed at high school students outside the Southwestern Union, will take place Oct. 28 and 29.
About 220 seniors are coming from the academies in the Southwestern Union. Alums from the visiting campuses will give tours of Southwestern and take the seniors to classes.

During University Days, a department fair is held to help prospective students learn what Southwestern has to offer.
“Every campus has its own personality,” said Tina Bottsford, director of enrollment at Southwestern. “You have to actually go to the school to find out what that personality is. It wasn’t until I was a student here that I found all of Southwestern’s benefits over the college I had been attending before.
“Students will never know all that Southwestern can offer until they visit this school.”
