Student Writing Contest Offers Cash Prizes

Students interested in entering this year’s on-campus Creative Writing Contest, sponsored annually by The Rough Writers, have until midnight Saturday, March 31.

Submissions are being accepted in the categories, Short Story (1000 – 5000 words) and Poetry (12 – 50 lines). All submissions should be in Times New Roman or Arial, 12 pt Font, and double spaced.

The contest gives students a chance to win $100 for first place and $50 for second place in each category. All students are invited to enter original works in any of the contest categories, with a limit of two entries per student.

Judge for short story is Jerry Thomas, published author and VP for editorial at Pacific Press. Judge  for poetry is Dr. Frank Knittel, published poet, former English professor and Southwestern board member. Winners will be announced at assembly on Thursday, April 12.
