Recent Sharathon Nets $127,000 for Radio Station

kjrnThe Journey, Southwestern Adventist University’s Christian radio station, recently held their Spring Sharathon fundraiser event during the final week of March. Throughout the entire week, volunteers and staff worked phones and collected donations that will allow the radio station to continue sharing a blessing to the surrounding communities.

“We were wanting to achieve a goal of $125,000,” Mike Agee, the manager of The Journey said. “And by God’s grace we were able to reach that goal by the end of the event.” More than 500 people donated to the station, and many were choosing to give funds for the first time, and the station was able to pass its goal and earn $127,000 after some individuals gave donations after Shareathon had ended. Agee said that the event was made memorable by, “Hearing great stories of God’s work in our listeners’ lives as He used the Journey to reach those who need a word of encouragement and hope.”

Over 30 volunteers came to assist with the event from North Ft. Worth, Granbury, Benbrook and all over Johnson County. Having this many people coming in and out to make this week a success meant a lot of stomachs to satisfy and seven businesses came up nicely to the task. Savala’s Breakfast Burritos, Mountain Coffee, Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary, Main Street Elite, Peacock’s Transmissions, Mission Hospice and Olivia’s Café and Catering all provided food for the volunteers and staff working at the station.

The Journey will now be able to continue to operate for the next six months due to the donations raised over this Spring Sharathon. Station staff are forever grateful for the blessings they have received during this week of fundraising and prayer.
