The classic film “The African Queen” starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn, and directed by John Huston, will be presented on Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m., in Wharton Auditorium.  This presentation is a part of Southwestern Adventist University communication department’s biannual classic film series.  This event is free to the public.

The movie takes place in Africa during World War I, when a young missionary persuades a rogue riverboat captain to use his boat to attack an enemy warship.  The film was nominated for four academy awards, with Humphrey Bogart winning the Oscar for best actor in a leading role.

“”The African Queen’ has consistently appeared on the American Film Institute’s top 100 best movies,” says Dr. Bob Mendenhall, chair of communication.
