Communication Field Trip

Southwestern communication students crowd around the desk of John McCaa and Shelly Slater, anchors for the five o’clock news for WFAA Channel 8 in Dallas. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and have their photos taken with the duo after standing in the studio during the live broadcast. The visit was the final event during the annual Communication Field Trip, held the last Wednesday of each March. This year students visited a newspaper office, an advertising agency, a CBS radio affiliate and the TV station. (Photo: Matthew House)
