Week of Prayer Scheduled for Next Week
“Carving the Character” is the theme for fall semester’s Week of Prayer hosted by Southwestern Adventist University on Oct. 18-23.
This semester’s Week of Prayer will have a different structure than in years past. Instead of having one speaker, the Spiritual Life and Development team elected to have 10 speakers. Each day there will be two speakers, with two Southwestern faculty speaking during each session. Each time a speaker goes up they will have a chance to share their thoughts on the fruit of the Spirit, which are found in Galatians 5:22-23.
Monday will feature Dr. Donna Berkner, associate professor of education talking about love and Dr. Joaquim Azevedo, associate professor of religion speaking on patience. On Tuesday, Dr. Andrew Smith, director of the Center for Academic Success and Advising will discuss peace and Dr. Jorge Rico, professor of religion and department chair will talk about goodness.
Wednesday Terri Gibson, assistant professor of nursing will share her thoughts on gentleness and Dr. Bill Kilgore, professor of religion will talk about kindness. Thursday will feature a comedian talking about joy.
On Friday, Dr. Ingo Sorke, professor of religion will share his thoughts on faithfulness and Dr. Karl Wilcox, professor of English will talk about self-control.
The scheduled time for Week of Prayer will remain the usual with Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning at 10:45 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. All meetings will be held in the sanctuary of the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church.
