Spiritual Life Looking For Volunteers
Spiritual Life and Development at Southwestern Adventist University is looking for volunteers to help in their various ministries.
“We want students to get involved in their own spiritual life,” said Hannah Marchok, student chaplain. “There’s a special blessing that comes from leading out, more than just sitting there and listening each week.”
The department is looking for people to play or sing in a praise team, greet at Friday night vespers, offer prayer, read scripture, share their testimony, be involved in a skit, give special music, help in the kitchen, clean up and more.
Students are encouraged to volunteer as often as they desire. The spiritual life team also asks that students take initiative to involve themselves. “Southwestern gets many new students and we try to approach people who express interest in getting involved, but can’t find everyone on our own.”
Some of the ministries on campus include Friday Night Vespers, Afterglow, small groups, Sabbath school and outreach.
“At this point we’re looking for pretty much anything,” said Marchok. “This is a good time to get involved because we don’t have everything set up yet and pretty much all of our ministries are looking for volunteers.”
Students may sign up to volunteer by visiting Spiritual Life and Development offices or online at http://www.spirituallife.site.swau.edu.
