Spring Semester Events Planned
Fall semester 2011 is coming to an end at Southwestern Adventist University. After a few weeks of Christmas break, students should look forward to a spring semester of many fun-filled activities. In a nutshell, here are the events of spring semester, 2012:
School starts again on January 9. A few weeks of classes will take place, allowing the students to settle into their classes. January 25-29 the annual Southwestern Basketball Tournament will take place. Also, from January 30 to February 4, the campus will host the spring student week of prayer.
Main events taking place in February are art shows of local artists (Feb. 5-24), a Keene Camerata concert (Feb. 11), the Southwestern showcase concert (Feb. 15), and the annual music festival (Feb. 16-19).
University experience is scheduled for March 4-6, then it’s spring break March 9-18). Some students will travel home, but others will be with school groups. The ski and snowboarding class will travel to Colorado, a Navajo mission trip will take place in Arizona, the nursing department will spend time in the Dominican Republic for a mission trip, and the University Singers will be in Puerto Rico for a choir tour. On the last day of March, the Southwestern Acrobatics Team (SWAT) will perform their home show.
The month of April will start off with the annual Resurrection Pageant (April 7). It is hosted jointly by the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church and Southwestern , and takes place on Southwestern’s campus. Many students are involved with his huge production. Soon afterwards the senior’s have their exit exam (April 8). Alumni Homecoming takes place April 12-15. The English department’s presentation of the play “Pride and Prejudice” will be one of the last events of the year on April 19, 21 and 22.
