Where Lost Items Come to Rest
Most students have, at some point in their scholastic career, experienced the horrible feeling that comes from losing a valued possession on the school grounds. Jeremy Knaubert, a sophomore and a radio/TV/film major, understands the feeling well.
“I lost my backpack this semester. It’s the worst, because everything you need is in there,” says Knaubert. “My experience hasn’t been the best with losing stuff. My saxophone also disappeared.”
Many Southwestern students are unaware that the University has a lost and found—several, actually. Donna Morrison, who works in the campus services offices, says that students rarely claim lost belongings at lost and found.
“It’s a possibility that they just don’t know where to look,” says Morrison. “But at the start of each semester an email is sent out telling people exactly where to come. Students can check the lost and found here at campus services for items lost in school vans from trips and such. If items are left in classrooms, custodial brings them here.”
There are also several other lost and founds on campus that students can check. The library has one that can be accessed by asking at the front desk, as well as the cafeteria and the gym.
“I sure didn’t know there were so many lost and founds,” says Denny James, a nursing major. “I am always leaving a jacket or something lying on the back of a chair. It would probably be good for students to be more aware that lost and founds exist, since we don’t have the money to be replacing stuff all the time.”
Anyone who is missing belongings can check with any of these locations.
