Weekend Spiritual Activities Announced
This weekend’s spiritual events include vespers, afterglow, Sabbath school, church, inreach & outreach, vespers concert, and a Young Adult Festival of Worship.
Friday night worship will begin at 8 p.m. at the Outdoor Amphitheater in the center of campus with worship of music, testimonies, skits, and spoken word. Afterglow will follow at the fire pit at the duck pond hosted by Missions Club with a warm fire and s’mores.
Lifehouse Sabbath School begins at 10 a.m. in the Student Center with a lesson study of A Holy & Just God. This is the last Sabbath School of the year in the Student Center.
This Sabbath is Communion Sabbath at the Keene SDA Church. There are two services; one at 9 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. Jerrod Songy will be delivering the message, Your Last Meal on Earth.
Sabbath afternoon any students interested in going to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens will meet at the library steps and leave at 2:15.
Leaving at 2 p.m. from the library steps is anyone interested in helping out with the West, TX fire/explosion disaster relief.
Closing out the Sabbath, the University Singers will be in concert at the Keene Spanish Church at 6 p.m.
At 9 p.m. in the Wharton Auditorium, the annual English department play will be presented for the second time. This year’s play is Shakespeare’s festive comedy, Twelfth Night. Admission is free for Southwestern students & faculty, and $5 for community. The final presentation of this play will be Sunday night at 8 p.m.
Also, at the Arlington SDA Church is a Young Adult Festival of Worship all day event & Chris August concert. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, at the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4409 Pleasantview Drive, Arlington, TX, the festival is centered on the theme, Jesus.All.
Young adults will be able to enjoy worship sessions, community service opportunities, seminars, and a 7 p.m. concert featuring award-winning recording artist, Chris August. The entire day is free except for the evening concert which is $8/general admission. For tickets and more information go to www.YGchurch.com.
