Weekend Features Many Spiritual Events

This weekend is full of many spiritually filled activities including vespers, afterglow, Sabbath School, University Church, The Lighthouse Project, Sabbath Afternoon Outreach, and Evensong.

On Friday, Jan. 18, vespers will be held in the Keene SDA Church at 8 p.m. The speaker will be Elder James Black, director of youth ministries for the North American Division. Following vespers will be Afterglow Café in the Student Center with an evening of fellowship, fun, and snacks.

On Saturday, Jan. 19, Sabbath School will start at 10 a.m. in the Student Center. The Cortez Praise Team will provide praise music and the speaker will be Christian Moscoso, freshman theology major. Breakfast will be served there as well. This Sabbath is University Church at the Keene SDA Church. The message: “Who’s Got Next?” will be preached by Elder James Black at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

The Lighthouse Project, an on-campus retreat designed to encourage and equip college students to serve as Christ’s disciples, will follow Church. It will be held in the Pechero Board Room from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome, but only the first 30 people who sign up will be able to go. If anyone is interested, signups are in the Spiritual Life and Development office. Dr. Jon Dybdahl will lead out and lunch will be provided. During this time, the Sabbath Afternoon Outreach Activity is going door to door to help spread the word. All who are interested will meet on the Southwestern Library steps at 3 p.m.

Closing out the Sabbath is Evensong, the University-sponsored reflective service featuring scripture, prayer, responsive reading and music. It will be held in the Keene SDA Church Sanctuary starting at 5:30 p.m.
