Statistical information has been released regarding where the 2015-2016 freshmen class of Southwestern Adventist University spent their final high school or academy year. This information is important to the University because it highlights where recruiting has been the most and the least effective, and where the most work needs to be done to improve and increase the number of future freshmen.

According to these statistics, most of the freshman class originated from Adventist academies and schools associated with the Adventist Church within the Southwestern Union of Seventh-day Adventists.

“Of the 147 freshmen this year, 62 or 42% come from academies in the Southwestern Union Conference.  Eight freshmen come from academies outside the Southwestern Union Conference.  Fifty-eight or 40% come from high schools in the United States; 10 come from home school and/or GED; while nine are from another country. Only one of our freshmen came from a private (not church-run) Adventist high school,” says Tom Bunch, director of institutional research at Southwestern Adventist University.

Adventist Christian Academy, Chisholm Trail Academy and Dallas Christian Academy all saw 50% or more of their graduating class last year enroll at Southwestern, but the nine other schools did not. The information does not indicate what these other students chose to do.

Southwestern Adventist University continues to be a unique and often rewarding choice for Christian education. For more information about the statistics of the 2015-2016 freshmen, contact Tom Bunch at (817) 202-6207.
