Speakers Named for Sept. 27 TEDx Presentation
Southwestern Adventist University has announced the line-up of speakers for the Ted talks event “On the Edge” on Sunday, Sept. 27 at Southwestern Adventist University’s Wharton Auditorium.
Speakers for TEDx will present thought-provoking ideas on variety of topics and will shed new light through innovative approaches in their areas of expertise. Speakers for the event will be Allen Forte, Candace Thompson, Dr. Errol Bryce, Pam Masters, Tenisha Polk, and John Bramblitt.
Allen Forte is a businessman with more than 20 years of experience in business performance development and business strategy, with expertise ranging from industries, government and non-profit companies.
Candace Thompson is director of community outreach at Jubilee Park and Community Center, a nonprofit dedicated to enriching Dallas. Thompson promotes change by building and nurturing community leaders and has served the nonprofit sector for more than 10 years.
Dr. Errol Bryce currently serves as president of New Steps to Health, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping patients combat lifestyle diseases. New Steps to Health is a 40-day program to help participants create lasting transformation in their lives. The program consists of eight key steps; nutrition, exercise, water, sleep, timeout, equilibrium, partner and stress resistant personality.
Pam Masters is director of outreach and development for Community Opportunities Inc. Masters is also the agency’s instructor for all local police academies on how to best respond when serving someone with a developmental disability.
Tenisha Polk is clinical director at Johnson County Children’s Advocacy Center. Polk’s experience includes working with adolescents in both patient and outpatient and inpatient psychiatric treatment facilities. She is intensively trained in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and practices trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy (TF-CBT).
Finally, John Bramblitt is a successful artist living in Denton, Texas who also happens to be blind. His artwork has been sold in more than 30 countries. Bramblitt has made appearances with Katie Couric, ABC, NBC, FOX, Discovery Channel, BBC Radio and other TV outlets as well as been featured in The New York Times and Psychology Today. He has designed the artwork for numerous magazine covers as well as the artwork for major film productions.
“On the Edge” is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27. Wharton Auditorium is located on the corner of Magnolia and Old Betsy Road in Keene.
