Southwestern TV Show Airs Oct. 6

According to Aaron Weber, producer of the upcoming show, the station had its first dress rehearsal on Tuesday, Sept. 21. The student crew was able to experience the excitement of shooting and directing a live show, and also see some of the small, technical things that can go wrong.
“It will definitely get better with practice,” says Devin Grady, a radio-TV-film major who directed the mock episode. “It was a lot of fun.”
The show is designed to have something for everyone, students and community alike. Since the show itself is made by the students, they will be responsible for finding and providing talent. Randy Yates, general manager of the station, says that experiences like these will prepare communication majors for what they will face in the real world after graduation.
“What is nice about the Studio at Southwestern is that it gives the students a chance to make it real life,” said Yates. “We are the only Adventist school with a TV station, and since it is a live show, they will be working with deadlines. But since we are a small station, it leaves room for students to learn from their mistakes.”
The studio will be producing a live show weekly, starting on the sixth, and by the spring semester, hopes to go live daily. Student workers will also be posting media tutorials and short sections on the station’s YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/SynapticStudios. Updates will be posted on the station’s Twitter page, http://twitter.com/synapticstudio as well.
