Southwestern To Host Intercollegiate Basketball Invitational
Southwestern will host its first intercollegiate basketball invitational this weekend, featuring eight different teams, including Southwestern and Andrews University.
The remaining six teams are local colleges and universities that Southwestern regularly plays: Arlington Baptist College, Ranger College, Texas Wesleyan University, Parker University, El Centro College, and Champion Baptist College.
“We’ve got good relationships with the local schools and they’re all committed,” says James The, vice president for student services. “Our hope is to start a rotation between Adventist schools to host a tournament and bring our Adventist schools together.”
The invitational is set for Jan. 18-21. The first game starts Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. in the gym between Andrews University and Arlington Baptist. The games are free for Southwestern students and admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
