Parents Weekend Scheduled for Oct. 2-4

Southwestern Adventist University will hold its annual Parents Weekend Oct. 2-4.  The weekend will give parents a chance to visit the campus and talk to professors, administration and deans and see what college life is like.

“We are eager to offer parents the opportunity to experience what life on campus is like for their children,” says Southwestern Adventist University president Dr. Ken Shaw. “It also provides an opportunity to showcase the many activities in which students are involved.”

The event will begin on Friday night with vespers and a welcome directed at all parents on campus. Pastor James Winegardner will share the sermon on Saturday, followed by lunch at the cafeteria. Parents will be able to meet professors and administration during the campus open house time.

“We want to give parents the chance to meet the faculty and staff who are now such a daily part of their student’s life,” says Dr. Shaw.

Parents weekend will conclude with sundown worship, a benefit concert and art show, Saturday night fun and a Sunday pancake breakfast benefit.

“Parents weekend is a fairly new event on our campus, and I am happy to report that it is growing more popular each year,” says Dr. Shaw. “We intentionally placed it in the middle of first semester, which provides a wonderful way for students to reconnect with their family.”
