Faculty, Staff Honored for Service
Twenty-seven faculty and staff were honored for their service to the University and its students at Southwestern’s annual Awards Dinner, held on Thursday, Aug. 9 at the Petroleum Club in Fort Worth. In addition, two employees, one faculty and one staff, were singled out for the Extra Mile Award for meritorious service.
Ellis Hainey, plant engineer, and Paulos Berhane, associate professor of math and physical science received the annual Extra Mile Award “for service above and beyond the call of duty,” according to University President Eric Anderson.
Receiving awards for five years of service were: Paulos Berhane, Dorie Cruz, Diem Dennis, Rudy Dennis, Dan Donahoe, Bonnie Dyer, Bob Gardner, Susan Gardner, Susan Grady, Monica Martinez, Rafael Romo, Zenaida Romo and Gerald Springer.
Mark Aldridge, Marcel Sargeant and Rod Bussey were honored for 10 years’ service, while Steve Jones and Judy Miles-Laue received 15-year awards. Serving for 20 years were Marsha Rasmussen, Jerry Potter and Chaz Lewis, and Bonnie Gnadt was honored for 25 years, while Mugur Doroftei received a 30-year award.
Sharon Wicker, Dale Hainey and Tom Bunch all received awards for 35 years of service. Larry Garrett was honored for 40 years of service to Southwestern.
