Creative Writing Club Meets Every Wednesday Evening
Wednesday, Aug. 30 marked the first meeting of this year’s Rough Writers creative writing club for students at Southwestern Adventist University. Rough Writers is a time for students to get together for an hour a week and share something they have written and expand their creativity. Short stories, novels, poems, and other forms of writing are critiqued in a safe environment, as well as writing prompts and other fun activities. The group invites students of any major who have a love for writing to come and share their hobby. This is the tenth year the club has been offered at Southwestern.
Rough Writers meets in the Library Classroom on the main floor of the Chan Shun Centennial Library every Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. This group is designed for individuals who love to write, but there’s no pressure for those who are new to participate. Many who join watch and learn for several weeks before they are bold enough to contribute.
“Rough Writers is a very open, supportive and relaxed group,” says Dr. Glen Robinson, communication professor and the club sponsor. “We’re there to support and help each other grow in our writing.”
This is a judgment-free zone constructed to make those who are wanting to share something they have created with people who will strengthen them and give them constructive criticism to make them better.
