This year’s Mimosa is coming quickly, and many students have questions and concerns regarding Southwestern Adventist University’s storied end-of-year event. Fortunately, the SA’s Financial Vice President Dulce Quevedo is available to answer questions about Mimosa.

“It’s a special occasion,” she begins, “where everyone gets dressed up and comes together for a night of fun, celebration, and creating unforgettable memories.” Every year SWAU hosts this grand banquet exclusively for the students here at this university, and it’s something that all the students should be looking forward to.

“It’s for the students to know that everyone wants to have fun and dress up from time to time. We want them to enjoy their time here and know that they aren’t here just to study, but to make lifelong friends and memories.”

Mimosa is scheduled for March 31, and although the venue has yet to be revealed, Quevedo is excited about what her team has been working on. She says all she can share is that “the venue is beautiful and picture-worthy,” and that the decorations “make everything come together.”

When asked about this year’s theme, she announces that it’s Gatsby-themed.

“I just watched ‘The Great Gatsby’ and it was amazing,” Quevedo says. “The SA team was inspired by the movie and came up with a bunch of ideas.”

As eager as she is to share some of the great ideas they have in mind, mum’s the word. “Something that I might hint at is the music,” she says. “Like I said before we have been planning this since September and looking at it all coming together I think compared to last year, we will have a lot more things for everyone to enjoy.”

Even though she couldn’t go into too much detail, she explains that Mimosa this year will be filled with a lot of elegance and fun. She says usually students are usually worried that they just go for dinner, “but as part of the Mimosa team, I have high hopes of having something for everyone” and she’s sure that the overall activities will keep everyone entertained.

“This year, we’ve justified a sufficient budget to ensure everyone has a great time,” she says. She says that with this budget, the SA team can ensure “delicious food, top-notch entertainment, and plenty of fun activities” for students, all while keeping ticket prices reasonable. Tickets this year are $25, and students can purchase them at the cashier’s office. Quevedo also mentioned that non-SWAU students are also welcome to attend Mimosa for $35.
