Competition Announced To Benefit Needy

Southwestern’s ENACTUS team, formerly known as SIFE, has partnered with Campbell’s Foods in a local competition dubbed “Let’s Can Hunger,” where both academic and administrative departments battle to make Christmas baskets for the less fortunate in this area. Although this is directed at Southwestern faculty and staff, donations will be accepted from students, area residents and friends of the University.

In offices all over campus today, boxes have been placed near the department chair’s office to allow donations of non-perishable food items. If a person has large amounts of food to donate, they can bring it by the business department or contact the business department and they will pick up the food.  ENACTUS members will continually collect the food items when boxes fill up. The members will also keep record of the total number of food items donated and then the total amount of food donated will be divided up by the number of members in each department.

The winner will be determined by the department with the highest percentage of food donated per person. The winning department will be treated to an elegant, home cooked dinner prepared by ENACTUS team members.

The whole intent of this project is to benefit the less fortunate in the area, so again, anyone who is willing and able to give is encouraged to do so.
