Senior Exit Exam To Test General Education

The senior exit exam is one of the steps on the road to graduation. Shown above are Giselle Ortiz, Chelsey Evans, and Michel Rodriguez, class of 2012Graduating seniors are required to take the general education exit exam next week.
There are two available times to take the exam. The first is Sunday, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. The second is Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. Both of these tests will be located in Scales Hall, room 201.
The exam is a measure of how well the school taught students during the four years they’re here. It compares what they knew when they came in to what they know when they leave.
The value the test holds for the senior is that they can put the result printout in their portfolio to show prospective employers or graduate schools their knowledge levels and critical thinking skills.
“Many people think that education merely consists of training to get a first job,” says Andrew Woolley, professor of English. “But education is much more than that.”
Southwestern works hard to teach students not only in their major area of study, but also in other disciplines as well. This test will show how well general education is working.
