Music Department To Host First Recital
Southwestern’s music department is hosting its first recital Thursday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. It will be held in Wharton Auditorium. A reception will take place afterwards.
“The first recital is always exciting,” says Jonathan Wall, chair of the music department. “For many students, this is the first recital they’ve ever performed. Those who come will not only listen to new students, but also get to hear students they’ve watched develop as performers.”
This recital will feature 11 singers, a violin, a bassoon, percussion and a saxophone. Musical selections include Bach, Mozart, Faure, Schonberg, Scaratti and more.
According to Wall, the music department is the fastest growing department at Southwestern Adventist University. They look forward to showcasing their new and returning students.
Student performers are Leslie Castellanos, Sheena Arocho, Reuben Hall, Connor Mason, Ann Sauder, Elaine McDonald, Megan McCormick, Enny Velasquez, Ivana Ticar, Gage Rice, Jonathan Dunchie, Elizabeth Cortes, Jeremy Knaubert, Jennifer Compean and Halla Kalmansson.
The reception is free and all are invited.
