Thrive Weekend Offers Spiritual Empowerment
“Thrive: A Weekend of Spiritual Empowerment” starts this Friday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. Men meet at Wharton Auditorium and Women meet at Chan Shun Centennial Library. The featured speakers are husband-and-wife team Costin and Leah Jordache.
Costin attended Southwestern from Fall 1993 to Spring 1996. Leah attended Southwestern from Fall 1994 to Fall 2001. Both graduated from Southwestern with bachelor of arts in theology.
“We want students to come to thrive so they can be spiritually empowered, motivated as young Christian men and women,” said Islem Mattey, Chaplain at Southwestern. “We want them to come also so they can find things that speak specifically to them in their Christian walk.”
Afterglow is “Outdoor Café” at the Outdoor Theater, starting at 9:30 p.m. On Saturday morning, a continental breakfast will be at the Rotunda at 10:15 a.m.
Men and women will return to their separate gathering grounds for praise time and a workshop with Will Iverson, dean of men, and Nannette Ortiz. Church begins at 12 p.m. Both of these events take place with the men and women in separate areas.
In-reach, a time to relax and once again combine everyone, will be at the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth. Buses leave at 2:15 p.m. and will return at 5.
The weekend will conclude in the Wharton Auditorium with a final, combined service at 6:30 p.m. Pastors Costin and Leah Jordache will give the sermon together.
