SA Plans Speed Dating Event for Feb. 10
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to speed date? Maybe you’ve wondered what it would be like to get to know new people and make new friends in a fun and quick manner? Then Speed Dating is for you. The event, being sponsored by Student Association, will be held at the Student Center on Wednesday, Feb 10 at 8 p.m.
In speed dating, students will have the opportunity to ask questions and introduce themselves to other students in a quick and timely fashion. Students will be able to get to know other students by asking them whatever they want to know in particular about that person. The purpose of the event is to get to know as many people as you can in as short a time as possible. However, for those students who feel like they need more time to get to know each other, then they can slow the speed of their date and have more time to get acquainted.
Southwestern’s Student Association wanted to develop a social event with the Valentine’s Day theme. Last year was the first time speed dating was held. “It was a great success and fun time for students,” says Abel Mims, student association executive vice president.
“It’s a great way for students to mingle on campus,” says Heidi Dart, student association public relations officer. “We wanted to come up with an idea that wasn’t going to pressure dating, but where students can get to know other students.”
