Deadlines for Scholarships Approach

Southwestern’s Student Financial Services wants all students to know of scholarship opportunities that are available. Below are 14 scholarships and their approaching deadlines:

1.  Insite Solutions LLC Scholarships
Insite Solutions LLC recently announced that they are offering two $500 scholarships for Spring Semester of 2013. The scholarship is available to any student scheduled to attend an accredited college in Spring 2012.

Both scholarships require a 500 word essay. One scholarship’s essay concerns the subject of reflectors and how they have been used to create safer driving conditions. The other scholarship’s essay asks the writer to describe how the use of parking lot stencils could improve safety and usability in a parking lot.

2.  $1000 Technology for Tuition Scholarship
AT&T announces a “Technology for Tuition Scholarship.” This is a recurring scholarship available to all current and prospective students.
Here are some details:

In a presentation to advertisers, Ted Harbert, the chairman of NBC, expressed his distaste over using DVR’s to skip commercials, but what do you think? Write a blog post answering the question “Do you think increased DVR use will cut into TV advertising revenue?”

3.  $1000 Verizon Scholarship
Essay topic: Top 5 ways that social media has impacted your educational experience?

4.  Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program 2012
Essay Topic: What creative solutions, programs and/or initiatives to stimulate the United States housing market, as well as to turn the foreclosure tide, must a presidential candidate outline/promise to earn your vote? Feel free to include your very own original stimulus plan and/or ideas in your response, which can also be used to enhance existing platforms from candidates and/or other influential thought leaders.

Requirements: Minimum 800 words, Maximum 2,000.

Awards: Five winners will be selected
• Top prize $5,000
• Second through fifth place will receive $1,000 each.

5.  $1000 UsBundles.com Scholarship
UsBundles.com is offering a scholarship for $1,000.

Blog post answering the question “Do you think traditional or online schooling is better and why?” in 250-300 words.

6.  Mark A. Forester Essay Contest
Rocky Mountain Mattress is offering an annual $1,000 scholarship as a prize to the winner of the Mark A. Forester essay contest.

To enter, the student must write a 300-500-word essay explaining how they go about honoring America’s military heroes.

7.  Textbooks For a Year Scholarship

Essay topic: What prominent person would you like to interview and why? This may be someone who is living, deceased or even fictional. Use a book to support your position.

Scholarship for $1,250.

Essay length: 750-1250 words.

8.  $1000 Scholarship: How has reality TV changed the entertainment industry?
Your answer in an essay may win you $1,000. The question is “How has reality TV changed the entertainment industry? Was it for better or worse?” Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident and not associated with any division of USDish.com . Click here to apply.

Deadline: Dec. 15, 2012.

9.  $1000 Scholarship for Finance & Economics Majors
StreamlineRefinance.net is pleased to offer scholarships for students who are currently enrolled in finance, economics, or investment related fields and who are pursuing advanced education in these particular areas.

Qualified applicants are welcome to submit an essay of 500-1000 words which describes what they hope to accomplish during their career in the finance, economics, or investment fields. Applications will be read and judged by the editors of StreamlineRefinance.net, and a winner will be selected on January 15, 2013. The deadline for applications is exactly one month prior to the award date, or Dec. 15, 2012.

10.              Medical Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship

The Medical Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship is available to full-time college students who are pursuing a course of study in a medical field, including those studying to become a doctor, nurse, physical therapist, anesthesiologist, radiologist, and all those who are pursuing other medical fields

Essay Topic: What person and/or event inspired you to pursue a career in a medical field, and how do you plan on capitalizing upon this experience in your field

Requirements: Minimum 500 words

$5,000 scholarship award

11.              2012 $2,500 Military College Scholarship
LowVARates.com is offering an annual $1,500.00 scholarship as an award for winning a writing contest. This contest is available to all students, regardless of major.

The applicant, family member or friend can send a 200 word essay to pr@lowvarates.com answering the question, “Why does the person you are nominating need the $2,500 military college scholarship?”

12.              $1000 Nursing Education Scholarship
TravelNursing.org is happy to provide scholarships for qualifying applicants who are applying to a medical related field or who are currently pursuing further education in the fields of nursing and medicine.

Interested applicants are invited to submit an essay of 500-1000 words explaining what it is they hope to accomplish during their career in the medical field. Applicants and potential scholarship winners will be critiqued by the editorial staff at TravelNursing.org and selected annually on February 10.

13.              Military V.A. Loan $1000 Scholarship Opportunity
MilitaryVALoan.com is pleased to offer scholarships in support of disability awareness. Every year, a prospective or current college student will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship to help with the costs associated with attending school.

Applicants should submit an essay between 500 and 1000 words about how they or someone they knew overcame disability to do something great. This year’s potential award winners will be judged by the editorial staff of MilitaryVALoan.com and selected on February 10th, 2013. Applications for this scholarship period will close one month prior to the announcement date on January 10th, 2013.
