Judges Announce Winners of 2018 Creative Writing Contest

The judges have spoken. Here are the winners of this year’s Creative Writing Contest at Southwestern Adventist University, sponsored by the Rough Writers, SWAU’s creative writing club.

Maria Cruz-Basoco

In short stories, first place goes to Lettie Agee for her story “The Death of Willa Everly.” Second place goes to Jered Mabaquiao for “Your Life and Mine.”

In poetry, first place goes to Maria Cruz-Basoco for her poem, “if love were a fire.” Second place goes to Christian Gonzalez for his poem entitled “Jubal.”

Winners will each receive a congratulatory certificate, with first -place winners receiving $100 and second-place winners receiving $50.
