Annual Student Writing Contest Offers Cash Prizes

4-12RWlogoIt’s time to pull that poem or short story out of your desk drawer or off you laptop. It’s Writing Competition Time again!

This is the fifth year that the Rough Writers, Southwestern’s Creative Writing Club for students, has hosted its annual Creative Writing Contest. The contest is open only to SWAU students. Categories are Short Stories and Poetry, and each category offers a $100 cash prize for first place, and a $50 cash prize for second place.

RULES:

  1. You must be a student at Southwestern Adventist University to enter.
  2. Your entry must be a true, unpublished work by you. It should be consistent with the values and ideals of Southwestern.
  3. Please include the title of your piece on both the first page of the manuscript and on the cover sheet. Do not include your name on the manuscript.
  4. Two entries per category maximum per student. Students can win only once in each category.
  5. Include a cover sheet. It should list:
    1. Entry category
    2. Title of the entry
    3. Name, year and major
    4. Telephone number
    5. DEADLINE:  Turn in to robinson@swau.edu by Monday, March 30 at 5 p.m. Winners will be announced at SWAU honors assembly, on Wednesday, April 8.
