Education Observes Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness Month and the color is blue, “Light It Up Blue.” Southwestern education majors wanted to support varied learners and honored Autism Day, April 2, 2013 by wearing blue. The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to help improve the lives of children and adults who suffer from the disorder so they can lead full and meaningful lives. Our majors take two classes that specifically help them work with children who have disabilities to better prepare them for the classroom.
