Nursing Dedication Slated for Saturday

The nursing dedication is a longstanding tradition on the Southwestern campus, and demonstrated by this circa 1980 photo of the ceremony.

When a nursing student reaches their second semester of their junior year, they dedicate and commit themselves to the profession of nursing in a special ceremony. During the service the nursing students are presented with a Gideon Bible. That dedication service is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9.

A tribute to family members, friends, and people who have helped them along the way is given by one of the students. Music is performed, there is a class presentation, and a speaker gives a short dedication message.

This ceremony shows a commitment to devote oneself to the welfare and care of others. Southwestern’s nursing dedication service will be held in the sanctuary of the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church at 5 p.m. on Feb. 9. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
