Matthew Hanson: Master of Time Management

From participating in every activity to planning them, Matthew Hanson knows how to make the most of the allotted 24 hours given to him in a day.  He is involved in practically every committee offered on the Southwestern Adventist University campus and is a full-time student. He is the ministries vice president for the Student Association, Assistant Chaplain of the Spiritual Life and Development on the campus, SWAT Captain, a member of Collegiate Adventists for Better Living (CABL), Enactus Public Relations Vice President, and Co-Director of the Revelation Skit Group.

He is in meetings every day, all day. On most days, his last meeting will end around 9:30 p.m., yet he still makes time to talk to his parents for an hour every day, read his devotions, and have his personal walk at night. With all the events in his hectic day, stress is inevitable and the way he releases it is by going to the gym every day and practicing handstands for at least an hour.

One would think that because of all these jobs a normal person wouldn’t have time to smile, never mind do anything for anyone else, however, for the people that know him and see him every day, Hanson defies all of those preconceive notions. He is always smiling and helping others, being positive 24/7. He is living proof that one can do it all and maintain a positive attitude about everything. He possesses a unique talent of changing people’s mood from negative to positive by just being around them. His happiness is contagious; one can’t help but be happy as well.

His perfectionist attitude and organizational skills may drive his peers’ crazy at times, but is needed for the kind of life he leads. It helps him do the things he needs accomplish well and provides stability and sanity in his fast-paced lifestyle.
