Reunion concert will collect scholarship funds

Cottonwood, a bluegrass group that performed at and around Southwestern Adventist University from the 70s through the 90s, will perform a reunion concert on April 26.
The special concert is being presented in honor of Cottonwood member, banjoist and former Southwestern professor Hal Wright, who died from complications of Parkinson’s Disease in 2006. Don McAdams, who plays fiddle for the group, is a former president of SWAU. He will make an appeal for donations during the concert, which will be added to a scholarship in Wright’s name.
Organized in 1979, Cottonwood has performed for civic clubs, school organizations, competitions, bluegrass festivals, professional country music events, and political rallies. Members of the group have changed over the years, and during the performance April 26, the face of the group will change as members join or step aside for musical numbers being performed. Several songs will call for all members to perform.
The free Cottonwood Reunion Concert is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, beginning at 8 p.m. in Wharton Auditorium on the campus of Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas.
