Intramurals basketball playoffs begin

SWAU intramural basketball playoffs began Tuesday, Feb. 19 when both the men and women’s teams competed to see who will play in the championship games. It was a process of elimination among the four A league teams, five B league teams, and the woman’s teams.
In the A league the Lakers beat the Hawks 79 to 63 in the first game of the night. In the next A league game the Rockets won against team Magic with a score of 53 to 41. So on Sunday, Feb. 24, A league team Lakers will play the Rockets in the championship game.
For the B league the night began with a 61 to 53 win for the D-Fenders against the 66ers. Next the Mad Ants beat team Arsenal 40 to 36. For the final game the D-Fenders had to defend their title with a game against the Valley Vipers. The D-Fenders made a valiant effort, but the Valley Vipers took the game at 47 to 41, putting the Valley Vipers into Sunday’s championship game where they’ll face the Mad Ants.
For the women’s game team Mercury won when the Comets forfeited by not showing up, putting team Mercury in Sunday’s championship game where they’ll face team Shock.
The championship games on Sunday begin at 7:30 p.m. in Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium.
