Registration is getting better

This year’s registration process was far better than last year. I took advantage of the online registration and it really paid off.

I also noticed that there were a lot more people there to help me every step of the way. It was really comforting when you raised your hand with a question and someone was there to answer right away.

Being that I had most of my things done when I got there, it was a breeze.

Compared to last year, registration has improved by:

1) Having more people there to help.

2) Emphasizing the need to register online.

I would advise incoming freshman to:

1) Take the time to talk to an advisor before registration. Know what classes you want to take. Take advantage of the online class schedule, and be prepared.

2) Know your financial situation before you get there. Most students rely on their parents to get the finances straightened out. But what happens when you need to answer a question on your own? Read up and understand how much money you are borrowing, what your scholarships are, how much tuition is. Be informed.

3) Using your ‘portal’ account can really make a difference. This way you can do step ‘A’ online, and if you pre-register, you can do step B and C and be done. This way registration will be a good experience, instead of leaving you exhausted.

These are just some of the tips that I can give incoming freshman. I’ve been there myself, but I got through it. It gets better every year, believe me. After you are done with it, the rest will just fall in place.
